Are you really doing your teeth right?

Last month was filled with a lot of fantastic times.  Instead of simply hiding away and being afraid of COVID-19 my family enjoyed a fantastic month filled with laughter enjoyment and fun.  We are all still healthy and we had a lot of time to spend eating and drinking incredible foods and beverages.  It was a really nice time to eat old recipes and bring back a bit of nostalgia from those who are no longer with us.  Their memories and recipes will stay with our family for a long time.  This is such a cool thing and I know that I overdid it a bit too much as I usually do this year.  But the major thing that came to mind with all of our talks is health and how we should probably start being a bit wiser with our intake of all these fantastic goods.  I know this was a really good part of the year because we all decided to cut back a little on our intake of bad things for our teeth and thought we should all bring some disposable toothbrushes next year.  It was pretty funny, but my family is super open and totally willing to think positively about us all doing it next year.  Protecting our teeth from tooth decay is not only financially a smart move, but it keeps us from other health issues and pain.

So this got me thinking about not only my holiday diet but also the rest of my own life and how I may need to make some changes to make sure our future holiday plans are all useful.  This is why I decided to make a few changes in my own life and do a lot of it through my diet.  I know that my body needs to be healthy and that what I eat and drink on a daily basis could keep my teeth strong and pearly white for years to come. So let's break down a few areas that are changing in my life and see if they may be a good move for you as well.

One of the first areas that I need to address in my own life is the different beverages that I drink on a daily basis.  The first beverage that I drink every single morning is a cup of coffee.  But I not only drink one in the morning but have one or two cups right after I get to work as well. Now I know that coffee is really acidic and that it has a tendency to break down your tooth enamel as soon as it gets on your teeth.  So what is really important is to make sure you are at least drinking water along with your coffee so quickly get it off your teeth.  But unfortunately, it will still have the staining because of how dark it is and how fast it works against your tooth enamel.   But drinking water can certainly help.

Another beverage that I plan on cutting down on is soda or pop.  I like to drink a lot of Coke, and Mountain Dew.  It is simply really good and I know that all the sugar is harming my teeth badly. So yet again substituting with water is truly important.
